Wha I loved most about this book is also what I disliked about it. I loved that it was written in the style of a person telling you a story, it was written how they would actually speak. This gave the book a very personal feeling. It also distracted from it a bit because there are parts that are extremely repetitive - so much so that I found myself skimming through some pages. Overall it is a good book that’s gives an intimate look into the lives of people on a remote and small island of the coast of west Africa and I do highly recommend it.
