When Korede's dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what's expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This'll be the third boyfriend Ayoola's dispatched in, quote, self-defence and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away. She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always comes first. Until, that is, Ayoola starts dating the doctor where Korede works as a nurse. Korede's long been in love with him, and isn't prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back: but to save one would mean sacrificing the other...

Was the book good? I didn't find it as exciting as the hype promised, but it was not bad.
Is it good for this challenge? Yes.

A quick read. Good for the challenge but the book itself was not groundbreaking.

‘Femi makes three, you know. Three and they label you a serial killer.’
My Sister, The Serial Killer is a very quick read. I got through it in 24 hours. It is fast-paced and I was soon hooked but it does present the reader with some moral dilemmas. I kept questioning whose side I was on and whether the sisters should be allowed to get away with three murders. Weren't my sympathies supposed to be with the police and with making sure that justice is served?
As an only child I couldn't quite believe that the bond between siblings is so strong that one automatically covers a crime for the other. But Korede and Ayoola aren't your average siblings and there were strong hints of sisterly rivalry throughout the narrative, coupled with simmering feelings of jealousy and emotional blackmail. Definitely morally ambiguous. I'm still not sure which side of the fence I'm on.
A rather dark mix which kept my expectations high but I thought that the story ended with a pop rather than the huge bang I was expecting.
‘She was right. You have to choose a side, and my lot was cast long ago. She will always have me and I will always have her; no one else matters.’
