I enjoyed this book very much and I plan on reading the rest of the series. This was the first book I have read for the Read Around the World challenge. It was enjoyable to read something from the perspective of someone living in 1970s communist Laos but also the main character was a 72-year-old coroner and that was an interesting perspective. Not only did he have limited funds and equipment, but it was also interesting to read about the beliefs and traditions of the culture.
