I normally only review one book per country, but having just read this delightful book I wanted to add it to the list because I found it much better than the other book I read for the Netherlands.
This touching story is one to which older people can relate and from which younger people can learn. Just because you’re old doesn’t mean you stop living and loving. Grief is present in Hendrik’s past and present and he does his best to cope, with the help of those still alive. He, in turn, tries to be as good of friend by supporting others through their troubles. This book is also a reminder that meaningful experiences are attainable late in life. Hopefully it encourages young people to have a bit more patients and understanding with the elderly.
I highly recommend this book.
